We're the McBeths — two parents, three kids, San Diego. This is where we share what we're actually doing with AI: the app we're building, the movie our kids drew, the experiments that worked, the ones that didn't — and the stories that convinced us AI is worth taking the fear out of.
Delaney is our neighbors' baby girl, four miles from us. She was given 48 hours to live — and now an AI bioengineering team is helping design a one-of-one therapy for her heart. Her mom, Erin, asked for two things: "Please share this story and walk with us down this road." And: "Delaney is our reason for starting, but not the finish line… the next child faster, the 10th child cheaper, and by the 100th child it will be the standard." Donations pave the road. The film is how the rest of us share it.
That's her, moving, for the first time. Little Light — the movie we're making for her. Approved by Delaney's family.
This is the most important AI story we know, and it's happening in our own neighborhood. If you do one thing on this page, do this:
How to share the light → Erin asked for two things: fund it, and share her story.
Shared with her family's blessing. The card above is their GoFundMe, live.
We're making Little Light — an animated film for Delaney, told entirely in light. The supporting cast is made by whole families, from crayon drawings: the kids', yours, Grandma's. Anyone can pick up a crayon, make a Hero, and watch the room light up. Free, any age, unforgettable.
Meet our first Hero: Baby Cakes. The family lizard, drawn in crayon, alive on screen in 10 seconds. We tested the recipe on our own before asking you.
A family AI hub one dad is building himself — nights, weekends, and a lot of learning in public. Plan the week, learn together, make things. Two rooms are still under construction (Create/Learn and Mind·Body·Heart) — you can watch us build them.
Free until it can't be. No trial, no card, no catch.
80 seconds: one claymation dad, the six questions, and the app. Captions on.
Try it live →“The Siblings: The Endless Summer” — a 2:19 animated film our kids drew, described, and voiced, brought to life with AI. It started as one question in the app: “Who wants to make a movie with me?”

Same drawing. Crayon → screen.
Watch the story →Quick backstory, because this film feels strange without it: I spent the summer trying to pause time. My kids were laughing, arguing, growing, and I kept lifting an imaginary remote and pressing pause. For a split second it almost works. Then it doesn’t. Time does not negotiate. So I made a 70-second film about losing that fight, and then I built the app above, which hands some of the time back instead. The point was never to stop time. The point was to finally step into it.
Made with AI, like everything else in the Lab. Less chaos, more time — that's the whole point.
Notes from a real family of five figuring out AI together — what we tried, what broke, what worked, with the exact prompts. Sent when it matters. That's the only promise.
